Tallinn Guitar Festival Sunset Concert / Raul & Marie Vaigla
Father and daughter – Raul and Marie Vaigla have been making music together since 2013, when they took part in the Estonian Song Contest (Eesti Laul). Since then, they have performed at festivals such as Jazzkaar, Stockholm Jazz Festival, Sõru Jazz, and Juu Jääb. Marie has also contributed to Raul’s solo albums Heights (2015), A Better Place (2019), and Killud (2022). Their concert features original compositions, works by Ultima Thule, as well as music by some of their mutual favourites such as Joni Mitchell and Led Zeppelin. Together, Raul and Marie create a unique blend of bass and vocals, adding layers of sound, colour, and nuance with their instruments.
Raul Vaigla is a beloved bass guitarist and composer, best known as a member of the legendary Estonian rock band Ultima Thule. In addition to his work with the band, Raul has an active solo career with four solo albums and countless contributions to Estonian music through recordings and collaborative projects.
Marie Vaigla is a singer and musician active since 2012. Known as the vocalist and songwriter of the band Frankie Animal, she also performs with her father Raul and brother Robert. Marie graduated in pop/jazz singing from the Georg Ots Tallinn Music College and in electroacoustic composition from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.
