Tallinn TV Tower is Estonia’s highest classroom
Our educational programmes combine history, science, technology, media, creativity and experiential learning. Here, students can explore, experiment, create and discover. All Tallinn TV Tower educational programmes are linked to the national curriculum and use the TV Tower’s authentic historical spaces, observation deck and exhibitions as learning environments – whether the topic is Estonia’s recent history, media, digital skills, physics, geography, art or health.
Learning at the TV Tower is both exciting and effective. Our programmes support the key competences outlined in the national curriculum, including cultural and value competence, social and civic competence, learning competence – learning how to learn – communication competence, mathematical, scientific and technological competence, entrepreneurship competence and digital competence.
The programmes also address cross-curricular themes included in the national curriculum, such as cultural identity, information environment and media literacy, technology and innovation, health and safety, environment and sustainable development, civic initiative and entrepreneurship.
Thanks to the TV Tower’s unique functions, the programme “Television – A Window to the World” provides an overview of the emergence of mass media and the technologies behind television production. In “A Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body!”, we get moving and climb all the way to the 21st floor, tackling 916 steps along the way. Our joint programme with Tallinn Botanic Garden, “From the Tropics to the Sky in 10 Minutes”, is a journey through space that teaches us to notice and appreciate the beauty hidden in nature.
Among our most popular programmes are “History at the Heights”, “LEGO Lesson Above the Clouds”, “More Than Meets the Eye”, “Smartphone Photography”, “ReelsLab” and “August 1991: Defending Freedom”. We also offer a dedicated programme for kindergarten children – “Kindergarten Programme”.
