ReelsLab
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
ReelsLab is the digital media education programme of the TV Tower, where we create short social media videos, that is reels and stories, together with the pupils.
In ReelsLab we treat the making of material as a creative process and as storytelling in short video form. We teach modern media skills and also talk about digital waste, the digital footprint, copyright and digital safety.
Pupils make the videos with their own smartphones. Everyone already has the tool in their pocket, so the focus is on content, dramaturgy and execution.
What makes the programme unique is the well lit environment designed specially for making reels and stories, and the way it brings the TV Tower, a symbol of broadcasting and a historic place for sending out messages, together with the themes of modern social media content creation.
THE REELSLAB SPACE · 1ST FLOOR OF THE TV TOWER
If you are looking for a place for meaningful content creation, or you want to share the TV Tower experience with others, step into ReelsLab on the 1st floor of the TV Tower.
It is a beautiful and well lit digital media space that we created together with the Energy Discovery Centre, AS Levira, the butterfly researchers and collectors Teet Ruben and Aare Lindt, and the inventor Aare Baumer.
We furnish the ReelsLab space by theme. The first theme brings together the TV Tower as a symbol of media and the expertise of our neighbour, the Botanic Garden. Exotic plants and tropical butterflies bring the digital content to life.
For schools
For school groups we run educational programmes in ReelsLab, where we teach how to create audiovisual content wisely, creatively and safely. We talk about reducing digital waste and about what a digital footprint is.
For teams
The ReelsLab workshop suits companies as a lively break in a seminar or as the finale of the day. With the help of a guide you create a professional short video summing up the day with your own smartphones, a digital story of the team that both the company and the participants can share.
Good to know
You can visit ReelsLab at times when no programme or workshop is taking place there.
If you would like a guided workshop, please book a time in advance.
If there are other visitors in ReelsLab, please ask their permission before filming or photographing.
